CoderHump: Blast From The Past: Blitz3D Models in Torque

Torque3D has a pretty nice Collada importer we've been testing with for months. Like TorqueScript and DSOs... it caches the resulting DTS back to disk for future executions and shipping builds.

I am SO glad to hear that! I thought I'd heard noises about that but a site search didn't turn anything up.

The new watch stuff in the resource manager looks useful, too. I hope you guys are really maxing out the usability of the engine in terms of runtime tweaking. :)

    You're welcome :-)

I took stuff from Tim and Clark for both COLLADA and the new resource manager. I think Brian finished up the PolyShape stuff - which imports both COLLADA and OBJ.

I think the resource manager made it into 1.8?

Andy, we both know that you rock. Why would you even want my approval? ;)

There is _A_ new resource manager in 1.8. I don't check the internal SVN anymore (probably don't even have access) so don't know if it's THE new resource manager. But it has volume system from Grendel and watches for file changes and such. It's a big improvement.

No PolyShape yet, but I think people will be happy with it when it comes out. If it kept the LOD, even happier! I'm stoked to see what you and Brian did with it.

Just thought I'd come over here, elbow you outta the way, and toot my own horn!

Amazing how fast people forget your contributions when you're no longer in the room, eh? Now if I'd worked on the flashy bits instead of the core stuff, maybe...

Just took a peek - it is indeed the new resource manager, the volume stuff, and the String class [sorry Tom! :-)] in 1.8.

P.S. Of course OBJ counts, but only if you handle materials!
